ARMANDO GONZALES
Master Ballet Teacher
Director of Dominican Republic National Ballet
Graduated in Classical Ballet from the National School of Arts in Havana Cuba in 1984, entering that same year in the National Ballet of Cuba, where he obtained the category of 1st soloist quickly standing out in leading roles such as Franz in Coppelia, Basilio in Don Quijote, Diana and Actaeon, Swan Lake, Giselle and others.
His main teachers at the school María Elena Delfrade, Rosa Helena Álvarez Mirta Hermida Luis Aguilar Sardiñas, Andrés Willyans, Laura Alonso, Karemia Moreno, Lázaro Carreño Pablo Moret, Joaquín Vanegas among others ...
He has participated in international festivals in Havana, Cervantino de México, Lión Francia, Melbourne Australia, PyongGiang in Korea, Panama from 2011 to 2016 at the Cali Colombia Ballet Festival, Miami International Ballet Festival 2006 and later from 2017 to Currently in 2019 participating in the Stars Gala and as a jury of the San Antonio Texas student contest among others.
Founding member of the Young Guard of the National Ballet of Cuba 1982 taking the main CUBALLET event to different countries such as Argentina January 1991 and 1992, Mexico August 1991, Brazil January 1992, Artistic Director and Spring Choreographer Casinata Casino Italia 1999.
He has been invited to companies such as Ballet Víctor Ullate in Spain, ballet of Monterrey Mexico, ballet of Chamber of Jalisco Guadalajara Mexico, Opera de Monterrey, Ballet San Juan Puerto Rico, Ballet Concert in Miami and the Washington Reflexion Dance Company. Since 1993 he lives in Santo Domingo Rep., Dominican, standing out in 16 seasons as 1st Dancer of the National Company.
He has been nominated for the Casandra awards from 1994 to 2003 as best classical or contemporary dancer, obtaining this award for six consecutive years from 1996 to 2001. Master of numerous national dancers such as Michelle Jiménez, Stephanie Bahuger, Natalie Fernández among others has done choreographic work for the National Ballet as a Don Quijote Suite Nutcracker Suite and other choreographies of which Interlaced stands out.
